It was a rainy past few days, but Saturday was cool and dry and pleasant. The rains came Thursday (1″), Friday (.8″) and Sunday (.5″) evenings. And there has been .2″ this morning! The White River forecast has been revised again, reflecting the heavy rain totals NE of here over the past several days. This extends the flooding event through Friday the 3rd.
One old legend tells us that if the river leaves some fish stranded in the sloughs, it will return to retrieve them! Perhaps that what happened this time, the fish didn’t all swim out with the receding river level.
Replanting is still a possibility, we are primed and ready as soon as field conditions permit. I’m thinking 15th now as a stopping date rather than the 10th.
I can see some work this week spraying roadsides for johnsongrass from the seat of the Gator, and some roadside bush-hog work. I hope I’ll be able to mow the US Hwy 50 right of way near Wheatland right after the 4th, in order to make the community look more presentable for the town’s “Wheatfest”.
Have a great week! Here, it’s VBS week at church. Tiring, but fun!
